AYRSHIRE'S new Trauma Recovery Hub has officially opened its doors in Ardrossan.

The hub, at 58 Glasgow Street, has been launched by Freedom Fighters, the Ayrshire-based charity dedicated to helping individuals overcome trauma, addiction and mental health challenges.
The opening ceremony on September 27 marked a significant milestone in the charity's 16-year journey of providing hope and healing to the local community.
The event featured a special tribute to the late Vince Gartland, whose vision and dedication were instrumental in making the hub a reality.
In accordance with his wishes, former head of the Scottish Drugs Task Force, Catriona Matheson, officially declared the hub open, with a commemorative plaque being unveiled in his honour.
Derek Moir, founder and project manager of Freedom Fighters, said: "This hub represents years of hard work, community support, and unwavering belief in the power of recovery.
"From a small support group in 2008 to this purpose-built trauma recovery centre, we've come so far thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters and the courage of those we serve."
The hub's transformation was made possible through remarkable community collaboration, with major support from Hillhouse Group, Asda, NAADP, James Frew Ltd, Altro Flooring, Annandale Home Improvements and numerous other local businesses and volunteers.
The facility will offer comprehensive services, including one-to-one counselling, group therapy sessions, recovery programmes, and a unique 'safe space' counselling room created from a repurposed safe.
Neil Urquhart, master of ceremonies for the opening, guided guests through the programme, which included a video presentation showcasing the hub's journey, recognition of key contributors and supporters, the moving tribute to Vince Gartland and the official opening ceremony by Catriona Matheson
Derek added: "This hub will serve as a beacon of hope for individuals and families facing life's most difficult challenges.
"We're creating a space where healing happens, where people can break free from trauma and addiction, and where our community comes together to support one another."
The Trauma Recovery Hub builds on Freedom Fighters' proven track record, having secured continued funding from the Scottish Government's Local Support Fund through 2026.
The charity's qualified therapists and recovery workers provide trauma-informed care that addresses the root causes of addiction and mental health struggles.
Freedom Fighters is a registered Scottish charity founded by Derek Moir in 2018.
Starting as a small support group in 2008 for those affected by substance misuse and mental health issues, it has grown into a comprehensive recovery service offering counselling, group therapy, and recovery programmes.
The charity's work is supported by the Scottish Government's Local Support Fund, managed by the Corra Foundation, and has been rigorously evaluated and endorsed by a lived-experience panel.
