OUR STORY
About Freedom Fighters
OUR PURPOSE
Freedom Fighters was born out of lived experience, hope reclaimed, and a deep conviction that recovery and restoration are possible.
Our founder, Derek Moir, encountered God in a life‑changing way after years of living with the devastating effects of drug‑induced psychosis. Out of his own journey of healing came a clear calling: to help others break free from the cycles of addiction, trauma, and poor mental health that once held him captive.
In December 2008, Derek began a small support group for those struggling with the mental health impacts of substance misuse. Within a year, the vision took shape and Freedom Fighters was birthed. We’ve been offering hope and helping individuals fight for the freedom and restoration of their hearts and minds ever since.
Today, we continue to offer hope, practical support, and trauma‑informed pathways to recovery, restoration & freedom.

What we believe
We believe that every person can be restored to factory settings.
Lasting change begins when individuals receive the right guidance and support to reinterpret their story and courageously engage in the deep inner work of reviewing and reframing their inner life.
We believe wholeheartedly in transformation over treatment.
The internal scripts that drive long-term struggles in mental health, addiction, and wellbeing are not fixed. They can be identified, released, and replaced with healthier, life-giving patterns that support a new way of living.
We also believe in personal responsibility. Freedom is not something withheld from you—it is something you learn to step into. You may have been free all along, but patterns, beliefs, and unresolved pain can keep you living in a self-made prison. With the right support, those walls can come down.
And we believe this without hesitation: you can learn to fight, and you can learn to win, no matter how long you’ve been defeated. You don’t have to stay stuck. You don’t have to reproduce what’s happened to you. Victory is possible.
